Nerf SR-25 and PSG-1 concept idea

So, back in Fall 2010, I decided to start on my Nerf Halo shotgun. At first I used the Alpha Trooper as a base and went ahead and made it....

...Horribly inaccurate, and it took me a con for me to realize it. That's when I went along and eventually made this awesome thing out of the Nerf Raider- [link]

I was able to salvage some parts from the Alpha Trooper "wreckage" and when dissembling, I've notice something awesome. I proceeded to slap on a stock on a scope.

BOOM! Near perfect base for the SR-25 and PSG-1 sniper rifle mods!

-A SR-25 mod would require cheapo M16 airsoft parts and rails, and some Dremel-ing to build onto the Alpha Trooper. Real Life SR-25 here: [link]

Question: Why the Alpha Trooper and not the standard Recon or the Longshot/strike? Or not just Airsoft variants?

Answer: Well, first off, Nerf rifle mags are just about the same size as real life 7.62 mags, which is the round both these rifles use. Also, there isn't any cheap airsoft variants of the PSG-1 or the SR-25. You can easily make a SR-25 out of cheapo M16/M4 parts, but it will probably cost just as much as an Alpha Trooper mod altogether (sans any internal upgrade kits). The problem with the Recon family and the term "sniper rifle" do not go hand in hand. Huge problem being the scope, decorative or not, is on the slide. Even with the bolt mods I've done (here: [link] ), large scopes still don't like it. Yes, the Alpha Trooper then loses more accuracy (to the real life versions), but it shouldn't do it to the point of not even doing a Nerf Mod altogether. Purpose of a Nerf Mod, at least in my eyes, is to still have a firing replica and can have fun with out hurting or pissing anyone off. To be honest, it does not look like it would hurt the PSG-1 much in that aspect anyways. Finally, while the Longshot/strike are Nerf's sniper models, they aren't anywhere near good to use as a base for these.

These are pretty small projects in terms of props, and would probably only take a few days on each one. Something I'll do when I get back from deployment. I'll probably also grab mod kits as well, these are supposed to be "Sniper Rifles".
